Some time ago, a couple of musicians stopped by the radio station with their brand new CD. They said they were Callahan Divide from right here in Abilene. Well, that was a few years and several albums ago. Today, they're back with a song titled "Happy" and it's already charted.

As I listened to "Happy," I wondered how Callahan Divide was getting airplay. It seems that they write how they feel and speak. So if you're not used to colorful language beware.

Some S&M lyrics from "Happy" (radio edit)

Pick me up throw me down grab me by the hair

When I'm on the ground tie me to a chair

Cut me up (clean version)

Make a worn out rag doll out of me

If it makes you happy

And take a swing at my face, pull the pin on the grenade, put a bullet through my head

and drop me to my knees do whatever you please

If it makes you happy!

By the sound of it, these guys know heartache, how lonely feels and something about S&M. "Happy" puts her in the drivers seat, exactly where she needs to be.

I believe Callahan Divide is the real deal, they put on a great show and their new project 'Come About' is a pleasant surprise. I'm reminded of the early CCR, Cooder Graw days.

Listen to "Happy" above and tell me what you think.
