Brooke Eden recently visited St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for the first time to bring smiles to the patients there, as well as spread awareness about the organization. The singer encourages her fans to join the cause whenever the opportunity arises.

“They’d rather a million people donate one dollar than one person donate a million dollars,” she said after the experience when asked what she’d tell her fans. “So whenever someone gives you the opportunity to donate a dollar, or three dollars, or five dollars at the grocery store or wherever you are, donate. Don’t ever think any amount is too small."

Eden says she was both surprised and inspired by the thankfulness and positivity of everyone at St. Jude, and she was particularly encouraged by the Teen Room.

“I think it’s really cool to bring all the teenagers together who are the same age and going through the same thing,” she says of the young patients, noting the importance of having friends who understand. “[Other teens] are worried about a comment on Instagram and you’re worried about when your next chemotherapy is. Having someone else you can really relate to, I think is so important."

She also enjoyed meeting little Gunner, who is only 18 months old.

“He is such a ham,” Eden says, laughing. “By the end of it he just ran into my arms and gave me a really big hug."

Eden has been working with Children’s Miracle Network since she was 18, so supporting organizations like St. Jude is important to her, especially as she gets older and her platform as an artist grows. The singer recently released her debut single “Daddy’s Money,” a country-rock anthem about growing up without any handouts but working hard to get to where she is today.

On March 3 and 4, Taste of Country will join 15 Townsquare Media stations in support of the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. This two-day web and radiothon aims to raise money and awareness for the world class research and treatment facility in Memphis, Tenn. Now in its third year, this collaborative effort has raised nearly $2.5 million. Country radio has helped raise more than $550 million during 26 years worth of Country Cares radiothons. The mission is simple: raise money, save lives.
