Brett Eldredge failed to receive any nominations for the upcoming 2017 CMA Awards, but he isn't upset in the least. The "The Long Way" singer, who won the 2014 CMA Awards trophy for New Artist of the Year, still recalls how exciting it was just to have the nomination.

"I remember when I got my CMA New Artist of the Year nomination: I got the nomination, and I was asleep or something. I got all these texts, I got all these messages: ‘You just got nominated for a huge award,'" Eldredge recalls to The Boot. "For me, it’s a recognition that’s really cool. I’m not an object guy; I’m not going to put that on my mantel and stare at it on the fireplace and think about it all the time. For me, it’s just, recognition is always great."

Eldredge hasn't received a CMA Awards nomination since his New Artist of the Year win -- although he has received ACM Awards nominations. He says that although he appreciates the acknowledgement, it really doesn't affect much about his life or career.

"It’s not going to change the way I make music," he says. "It’s just great to know that you can celebrate something as much as a nomination or winning an award with the people that help you get there. That’s, for me, the big thing; that’s the weight that an award carries. It’s just the journey. And to add that part of the story to the journey is something that is gratifying, and I’m always up for some nominations, whether I get them or not."

The 2017 CMA Awards are scheduled to air on ABC on Nov. 8, at 8PM ET; the ceremony will take place live at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena. Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood will host the ceremony for the 10th year in a row.
