Blake Shelton nabbed three nominations for the 2012 Teen Choice Awards, which air this Sunday (July 22) at 8PM ET. How does the beloved country superstar feel about being thisclose to nabbing a healthy chunk of the, uh, popular vote? Pretty darn good, that’s how.

“Anytime that I’m anywhere and somebody has a teenage kid that wants to meet me and have a picture, it’s like, ‘Oh, thank God,’ because you don’t want to be at that point where they’re like, ‘No, I don’t want a picture with him. He’s old and creepy,’” the always quippy and hilarious Shelton told ABC News Radio (quotes courtesy of Country Weekly.)

That famous sense of humor is likely why the singer remains so relevant with the young kids!

When Shelton’s show ‘The Voice’ won the Teen Choice Award last year for Choice TV: Breakout Show, he was amused and tweeted about the win, joking that he and his ‘Voice’ cohorts were bad role models. But that was just Blake bein’ Blake.

Hopefully he’ll have another reason to tweet about the Teen Choice Awards this Sunday night. He’s got a few chances to win and we’re pulling for him! Go Blake!

It seems like everything Shelton touches turns to gold, as ‘The Voice’ also grabbed four Emmy nominations as well. Shelton has the Midas touch.
