Blake Shelton is a busy, busy man. Between filming episodes of The Voice, the TV singing competition he judges alongside Adam Levine, Alicia Keys and Kelly Clarkson, and making his own music, Shelton says he just doesn't have time to make it out to awards shows anymore.

While in Las Vegas, Nev., for the 2018 ACM Awards, Shelton told WYRK's Liz Mantel and Clay Moden, who are in Las Vegas for the awards, that balancing his demanding filming schedule for The Voice and his own career has been challenging: "The Voice's schedule has been brutal on both the ACM Awards and the CMA Awards," Shelton says.

"There was one year, I was up for Entertainer of the Year at the CMAs, and I wasn't going to be able to be there," Shelton remembers. That was in 2014, when Shelton won Male Vocalist of the Year -- and, fortunately, he was able to convince NBC, the network on which The Voice airs, that he needed to be at the show.

"We were somehow able to convince [the network] to move an episode of The Voice to Thursday night or something so that I could be in Nashville," Shelton shares. "They're very supportive. They want me to be at these things because it's better for their show."

At the 2018 ACM Awards, Shelton's song "I'll Name the Dogs" is nominated for Single Record of the Year. It's his first solo nomination at the awards show since 2015 (though he was nominated for Video of the Year in 2017 as part of the all-star "Forever Country" project).

The 2018 ACM Awards are set to air live on CBS beginning at 8PM ET. The ceremony will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena; Reba McEntire will be hosting the show.
