This past Sunday’s FOX 25th anniversary celebration was supposed to be a time to rejoice and reflect on the network’s quarter-century history but for Bill O’Reilly, it was another attempt by the liberal media to take a “cheap shot” at FOX News. This time, “The Simpsons” were the offending party and O’Reilly wasn’t having it.

“I like how the network is a daring liberal antidote to the right-wing news channel it gave birth to” said Lisa Simpson when Marge asked everyone to say their favorite thing about FOX.

At the end of the episode, the point was reiterated with a card that read “Congratulations on 25 years…We still love you*” with the asterixed-aside “This doesn’t include FOX news.”

O’Reilly called out the writers of “The Simpsons” during the  ”Reality Check” segment of last night’s “O’Reilly Factor,” referring to the slight as “dopey” and a “cheap shot.”

Indeed, it seems like O’Reilly, who is no stranger to light parody or hard criticism, took more offense at what he felt was the “predictable” nature of the insult, rather than the insult, itself.

Hopefully next time, “The Simpsons” will try harder.
