Though it's yet to have the staying power of superhero films, of late every few months there's a new movie based on a Young Adult novel about a special young girl involved in a world of magic or a dystopian future. This genre needs a nickname, stat. February will bring us the adaptation of 'Beautiful Creatures,' and now there's a new trailer.

Much like yesterday's release of 'The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones' trailer, the timing on this makes it pretty obvious what movie they want this trailer in front of (hint: it's 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2'). Without looking, we'd guess that the first 'The Hunger Games' trailer premiered in front of 'Breaking Dawn - Part 1.' But that proves what a powerhouse these young adult fiction adaptations have become. There is definitely an audience for this material, but it's hard to say if this will be with audiences as long as superheroes have held their reign at the top of the box office. This new trailer is similar to the international trailer that came on line a couple days ago, but is a little longer and doesn't feature subtitles.

Here's the film's synopsis:

A supernatural love story set in the South, “Beautiful Creatures” tells the tale of two star-crossed lovers: Ethan (Alden Ehrenreich), a young man longing to escape his small town, and Lena (Alice Englert), a mysterious new girl. Together, they uncover dark secrets about their respective families, their history and their town. Oscar(R) nominee Richard LaGravenese (“The Fisher King,””P.S. I Love You”) directs from his adaptation of the first novel in the best-selling series by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. The film stars Alden Ehrenreich (“Tetro”), newcomer Alice Englert, Academy Award(R) winner Jeremy Irons (“Reversal of Fortune”) Oscar(R) nominee Viola Davis (“The Help,” “Doubt”), Emmy Rossum (TV’s “Shameless”) and Academy Award(R) winner Emma Thompson (“Howard’s End,” “Sense and Sensibility”).

And here's that trailer. The film is due out February 13, 2013:
