Battlefield 4 Video: Beta Details Explained
It won’t be long until Battlefield 4 lets us engage in ridiculous levolution and multiplayer shenanigans with our friends — who will soon become our frenemies. If you’d like to get in on the action a little bit earlier, then check out the details for the beta.
The video above features FTW’s Matt Cuttle and his interview with Battlefield 4 Executive Producer Patrick Bach. They discuss the details of the beta, such as the single map that players will get to preview: the Siege of Shanghai. If Battlefield 3’s beta featuring the Operation Metro map is any indication, the Siege of Shanghai will become one of the toughest maps to play on because of how familiar it will be for players.
One topic of discussion was the issue of bringing the beta to current-gen consoles but not for any of the next-gen machines. Bach said that there’s no way to solve this problem and that the best they can do is take everything they learned from the beta and apply it to the next-gen releases.
Bach also said that it was very possible for tweaks to the game to be made before the game’s release, depending on what kind of feedback they receive from the beta. And he also touched on the fact that fixes can be downloaded automatically in the near future, without the need for players to be at their consoles.
And, as always, Premium members will get their first crack at the Battlefield 4 Beta on Oct. 1, while all other players will have to wait until Oct. 4. This gives them a few weeks to get accustomed to the game and give feedback before the official release on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on Oct. 29, with the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions launching with their respective consoles.
