Dave Wheaton

I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as quick as I could. After moving to the Lone Star State from Michigan, I met and fell in love with with my wife. We have three kids that I cherish. Since relocating, I also fell in love with the Texas music scene. I've been lucky enough to be nominated for DJ of the Year 4 straight years by the Academy of Texas Music, and was the 2009 recipient of the Academy's Palmwood Award. I'm a huge sports fan, and my loyalties are with the Michigan Wolverines, Chicago White Sox and (sorry) the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Red Dirt Meets Heavy Metal With Black Dutch Sioux, ‘Fall of ’86′ – Song Review [VIDEO]

Black Dutch Sioux, a rocking country band out of Fort Worth, has a sound that I've never really heard before. Actually, I've heard attempts at heavier, harder rocking country rooted music before. I've just never heard it done this well before.

A coworker showed me the video for BDS' 'Fall of '86' recently, and I feel the need to share it with anyone who will listen (or read). This song has all the lyrical characteristics of a Charlie Robison or Pat Green tune, combined with heavy metal guitar, attitude and angst.
