The Texas Regional Radio Report‘s list of the biggest songs in Texas is out. Was Pat Green able to stay on top for two consecutive weeks? It’s not gonna be easy with triple digit spin increases from Aaron Watson and Rich O’Toole, both now nippin’ at his heels. Click through and check out where your favorite song stacks up this week among the biggest songs in Texas.
I can’t lie. This is gonna be tough — for you, I mean. We’ve got JB and the Moonshine Band‘s new single “No Better Than This” going up against Kevin Fowler‘s “Here’s to Me and You.” Both great songs, but only one can be crowned King of the Summer Song 2012.
Well, what are you waiting for? Click through, check out both songs and vote for your favorite already!
Oh, Kacey Musgraves — what a year it’s been for this native East Texan. She ended 2011 having cuts on both Martina McBride’s and Miranda Lambert’s latest albums — the latter “Mama’s Broke Heart” was named one of Rolling Stones “Top 50 Singles of 2011.” But that honor was just a hint of what 2012 would have in store for Musgraves.
Josh Abbott Band’s hugely popular JAB Fest has drawn huge crowds in Lubbock and Austin. Now they’ll be hoping for the same with the newly added “Off Road Edition” going down at River Run ATV Park in Jacksonville this Saturday (June 30). Last week Josh called into Radio Texas, LIVE! to talk about it, so check out our conversation — and get qualified for free tickets!
Its been a few weeks but Rita Ballou is back with All the Dirt in Red Dirt! And yes, I’m late posting this. But remember even though this Dirt is stale, if you ain’t heard it yet — it’s new to you. Last week Rita told us about Straggler No. 1 tying the knot, Jason Eady’s big tour, Wade Bowen’s “slick page coverage” and about East Texan Kacey Musgraves going to Europe with Lady Antebellum.
Ryan Beaver has written some great songs, and it’s so good to see radio finally taking notice. Not only did the Beav co-write Kyle Park’s first two Top 10, and latest singles “Make or Break Me” and “Leavin’ Stephenville,” he wrote his own, most recent single “Hate” which climbed all the way to No. 2 in Texas earlier this year.
Beaver stopped by Radio Texas, LIVE! last week and he sang a brand new song live, not the one I asked to hear, but new nonetheless. Check it out.
Granger Smith is to YouTube in Texas Music what Andy Samberg is to it everywhere else. Besides writing and singing hit songs, Granger and his band have a reputation for developing characters and funny songs, of which they make videos — then upload ‘em to YouTube. But Granger’s latest country boy character may prove to be a game-changer for the guys.
Chalk Max Stalling up as yet another victim in a growing list of crimes against touring musicians. Stalling, who makes his home in Bullard, was burglarized last night as some low-life saw fit to break into his trailer.
