Sure, you'll be riding the seas as Edward Kenway in Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, but did you know you'll also be an Abstergo employee?

A post on the Ubisoft blog explores the Abstergo Entertainment portion of Black Flag through an interview with game director Ashraf Ismail. Not only will you be playing as Edward Kenway in the Animus, but you'll be playing yourself outside of the Animus, walking around Abstergo Entertainment in the present day.

When asked about how much time we'll be able to spend outside in the "real world," Ismail said, "In total, if you were to do everything in the present day – find everything, hack every computer, access every room – it’s a solid three to five hours. For the main path – the stuff you’re required to do – it’s somewhere between 20 and 25 minutes. You leave the Animus five times during the game’s main path and each time you’re there for about three to four minutes."

He also said that there is a lot of fan service and "fun optional content" in the Abstergo offices for players who like the present day portions of the Assassin's Creed games.

Aveline, the protagonist of Assassin's Creed: Liberation on the PlayStation Vita, is set to make an appearance on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 version of Black Flag, all thanks to the present day content. Her story is not connected to Edward's, but Ismail said, "There is a connection in the brand but I won’t say what it is. You get to see it when you play as Aveline. Aside from Aveline… There are awesome cameos. Let’s put it like that."

And of course, there will be what are dubbed "What the F--k Moments" in Black Flag. Whether or not these will appear in the past or in the present day parts of the game have not been revealed, so we'll have to wait until the game is released on Oct. 29 for PC, PlayStation 3, Wii U and Xbox 360. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions will launch with their respective consoles. Click the link above to read up on more of the present day shenanigans at Abstergo Entertainment.
