‘Arrested Development’ Season 4: No Additional Netflix Seasons?

Arrested Development Season 4 Netflix
Netflix

Perhaps one of the sweetest sounds we’d ever heard was the breaking news of ‘Arrested Development‘s glorious return, to be broadcast across 10 14 episodes in May of 2013. Better yet was the possibility of even further ‘Arrested Development’ going forward, be it additional Netflix seasons or even the long-rumored movie, but has Netflix closed the banana stand on future offerings? Find out the future of ‘Arrested Development’ inside!

The internet itself will likely crash this May as ‘Arrested Development’ fans collectively stream all 14 episodes of the revival season at once, but it seems Netflix’s upcoming run may prove the last for ‘Arrested Development’ after all. Speaking at a conference today, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings described the upcoming reunion of ‘Arrested Development’ as a “one-off,” meaning that the streaming service won’t finance any additional seasons regardless of the coming run’s success.

Though series creator Mitch Hurwitz has previously spoken about the possibility of additional Netflix seasons, Hastings believed the reunion came about under “non-repeatable” circumstances, and that it would prove “extremely difficult to get the cast together” for any additional seasons.

Then again, Hurwitz and co. have suggested on multiple occasions that the upcoming Netflix season builds directly toward a feature film, however daunting the prospect may be. The long-awaited ‘Arrested Development’ movie would more than likely deliver on fans’ shattered expectations following the original 2006 cancellation, even if additional Netflix episodes remain out of the cards.

Elsewhere, ‘Arrested Development’ season 4 will feature appearances from Kristen Wiig and Seth Rogen, Conan O’Brien and Andy Richter, ‘Parks and Recreation‘s’ Ben Schwartz, ‘Up All Night’s’ Chris Diamantopoulos, all three stars of Comedy Central’s ‘Workaholics,’ ‘Mad Men’s’ John Slattery, Isla Fisher and Terry Crews, as well as returning series players James Lipton, Carl Weathers, Jeff Garlin, Liza Minnelli, Judy Greer, Henry Winkler and Scott Baio.

Well, what say you? Are you disappointed Netflix might not produce any additional ‘Arrested Development’ seasons after this May. Do you think the feature film will finally happen? Give us your thoughts in the comments!
