American Idol alum Kelly Clarkson has come a long way since her 2002 victory on the reality singing competition, but young hopefuls are still paying homage to the first Idol more than a decade later.

During the Hollywood group round (in which contestants must join up with their competition to put together a cohesive performance), four talented individuals going by the name 'BLVD' took the opportunity to salute Clarkson with a somber version of her mega hit "Since U Been Gone."

Each singer had a solo, but blended well with soft harmonies and background vocals, while judges Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr. looked on, visibly impressed. All four infused genuine emotion into their performance, making it a standout of the round.

Currently, Clarkson is preparing the release of her new pop (but not totally pop) album, Piece by Piece. The album is home to "Heartbeat Song," its lead single, and includes a number of collaborations across genres. It will hit shelves on March 3.
