Amanda Shires dropped a teaser of new music on her Twitter feed on Thursday (Jan. 11), promising a new album out this summer. The post includes a video clip from the recording studio, with the fragment of an ethereal new song called "White Feather." Readers can press play below to hear the clip.

"Haven’t named my record yet (considering 4122) but this is a little part of a song called "White Feather" -- Coming summer 2018," Shires says in the Twitter post, which followed a similar post in which the singer-songwriter says that the "rekkid" is almost done. Tweets from earlier in January indicate that Shires was hard at work recording in RCA Studio A with producer Dave Cobb and Matt Ross-Spang.

The Texas native released her latest solo album, My Piece of Land, in 2016, in addition to continuing her work with husband, Jason Isbell, on his Grammy-nominated 2017 album The Nashville Sound. Shires was named Emerging Artist of the Year at the 2017 Americana Music Awards; she has also worked and performed with Devotchka, Justin Townes Earle and Chris Isaak, to name just a few.

The gifted fiddle player will appear for a solo set as well as join Isbell and the 400 Unit on an episode of Austin City Limits on Saturday (Jan. 13). To stay up to date on Shires' latest performances and forthcoming details about the new music she plans to release in 2018, visit her website.
