Check Out These Set Photos From Amanda Seyfried’s Dystopian Thriller ‘Anon’

Amanda Seyfried Anon
20th Century Fox

It’s hard to articulate when exactly an actor or actress is on the verge of losing their A-list status in Hollywood, but my gut is telling me that both Clive Owen and Amanda Seyfried could use a hit. Despite being at very different points in their respective careers, both actors have slipped a little from the days when they were guaranteed money at the box office, and fair or not, Hollywood tends to remember these sort of things.

Thankfully, the one nice thing about being a talented actor is you’re only one movie away from bouncing back completely. Enter Anon, a dystopian thriller about a future where society has given up all expectations of privacy and the one woman who seems to buck this trend. ComingSoon.net was able to get its hands on a few photos from the movie’s recent Wall Street shoot, and, as usual, a few of them found their way online. You can see the full gallery at their site.

While the rest of this post could easily be spent describing Owen’s visible displeasure at wearing the camera rig, let’s focus on the movie itself. Anon was also written and directed by Andrew Niccol, the writer-director of Gattaca whose past credits also include the Seyfried dystopian thriller In Time and the screenplay for The Truman Show. Niccols has made a career out of poking around the dark corners of futurism; while his last couple of films have been somewhat underwhelming, he’s still one of the few writer-directors who seems regularly drawn to the damage that technology can do to our future. If Anon lives up to its potential, it could be quite the fun little comeback for both director and star.

Here is the plot synopsis, courtesy of IMDb:

Anon is set in a near-future world where there is no privacy, ignorance or anonymity. Our private memories are recorded and crime almost ceases to exist. In trying to solve a series of unsolved murders, Sal Frieland stumbles onto a young woman who appears to have subverted the system and disappeared. She has no identity, no history and no record. Sal realizes it may not be the end of crime but the beginning. Known only as The Girl, Sal must find her before he becomes the next victim.

No release date has been set for Anon yet, but we’ll be sure to let you know when we hear one.
