The men of the ACU Frater Sodalis social club invite you, if you dare, to their Haunted Island. Before you ask the question, yes Abilene has a small island not far from the ACU campus on loop 322. The island is pretty quite scary if you ask me (even without all the ‘haunted house shenanigans’ going on). The 31st annual “Frats Haunted Island” is only open for a very short period.

Dierks Bentley is set to appear on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” October 23rd as part of the week long tribute to Jimmy’s all time favorite band, Pearl Jam. Dierks will be performing a Pearl Jam song as part of the tribute, but it’s not known as of yet what song exactly. Bentley is no stranger to covering Pearl Jam, he did it in concert back in 2010.

Bubba is a big ole Great Pyrenees mix and the most gentle and lovable dog ever. At first glance he looks somewhat intimidating because of his size, he weighs 95 pounds. Bubba was picked up by the pound as a stray and shelter officers said “he’s a giant lovable teddy bear of a dog”. Please help us find a home for Bubba our “KEAN Critter” of the week. See him at the Abilene Animal Control Shelter in cage W-13.

Halloween is creeping up on us and people are already getting ready for it. For some, the excitement of Halloween can be compared to people who get ready for Christmas. So, with All Hallows Eve just around the corner, here are some events in Abilene that can cater to everyone, regardless of your age

A Great White Shark swims to close for comfort

I’ve always wanted my own paddleboard just to chill out on, but after watching this frightening video, I’m rethinking that. Mike Durand of Manhattan Beach, California had a scary encounter. He was out on his paddleboard when a great white shark got a little too close for his comfort. In fact the shark swims directly underneath his paddleboard. The scary moment was captured by his helmet camera, watch it and see if it doesn’t raise the hair on the back of your neck.
