Abilene’s Famous Dave’s Closing on October 31st

Another Abilene business is closing it’s doors. Famous Dave’s will be closing for good on October 31st.
According to the Abilene Reporter News, Co-owner Michael Burton said that the restaurant required a higher sales level than they could achieve. Basicaly, they just were not making the money. Burton went on to say that the building will be converted into a different business, not yet disclosed, within a year and a half. And, Burton didn’t rule out a smaller version of the BBQ place in the future.
Personally, I liked Famous Dave’s, mainly because of the awesome corn rolls they served up. I spent many family gatherings at that place pigging out on the corn rolls and brisket. I always thought they were a little pricey, but it was good BBQ with a great atmosphere.
The closing comes only 4 years after opening it’s doors in 2008. The sad thing, is that another Abilene business just couldn’t make it work.
