Chris Stapleton received the Album of the Year award for From A Room: Volume 1  at the 2017 CMA Awards on Wednesday night (Nov. 8). Stapleton and Dave Cobb were presented the award by Tyler Perry during the awards ceremony at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.

"Those were so many great records that just got mentioned," Stapleton says after his name was announced. "I'm always humbled getting these things." Ever brief, Stapleton thanked fans and his wife, Morgane, and drew laughs by adding, "I want to thank my kids -- and the kids that are on the way," in a reference to Morgane's pregnancy.

Cobb was also brief, and thanked the Stapletons, God and the CMAs.

From surprise appearances to surprise baby announcements, Stapleton has had one huge year ... which isn't surprising. In March, he kicked off his All-American Road Show Tour, which ran throughout Canada and the U.S., and he didn't even let a surprise hand injury stop the shows for too long. By the end of 2017, Stapleton will have released not one but two new albums, with From A Room: Volume 1 hitting shelves on May 5 and Volume 2 set to be released on Dec. 1. At the 2017 CMAs, Stapleton was up for Entertainer of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year.

The 2017 CMA Awards' other Album of the Year nominees were The Nashville Sound (Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit), The Breaker (Little Big Town), Heart Break (Lady Antebellum) and The Weight of These Wings (Miranda Lambert).
